En raison de sa position en tant que gare frontière sur la ligne de train Almelo - Salzbergen, des trains internationaux y s'arrêtent. Toutes les deux heures, un Intercity international part d'Amsterdam Centraal, Amersfoort Centraal et Hengelo vers Osnabrück Hbf, Hannover Hbf et Berlin Ostbahnhof et vice versa. La gare est aménagée de manière à ce que les locomotives NS et DB - qui ne peuvent pas continuer à cause de différences de tension électrique - puissent être échangées. Sur une partie du triage, la tension peut être commutée entre le 1500 V continu néerlandais et le 15 kV alternatif allemand.
