La gare de Lorch est située au kilomètre 39,9 du chemin de fer de Rems. Il est desservi par des trains régionaux.
Les habitants de Lorch ont accueilli avec enthousiasme la nouvelle que les Chemins de fer royaux du Wurtemberg souhaitaient construire une ligne de chemin de fer de Cannstatt à Wasseralfingen. Mais cela posait des difficultés au bourg. C’est précisément ici que la vallée du Rems était particulièrement densément construite, de sorte que l’itinéraire passait au milieu du village. Même des bâtiments ont dû céder la place, notamment le bâtiment du bureau de poste et le Gasthof Gipfel. Les chemins de fer nationaux ont mis en place quatre passages à niveau : à Stuttgarter Straße, Haldenbergstraße, Friedrichstraße et Karlsplatz.
