Le monastère et le gymnase Sainte Marie Reine se trouvent près d'Altenhundem sur la route nationale 715, qui mène d'Altenhundem à Bilstein. Situé sur une colline dégagée juste avant le virage vers Hohen Bracht, le complexe lumineux avec le crucifix sur la tour est visible de loin.
Le monastère, avec le gymnase attenant, était un établissement de la province allemande des missionnaires de la Sainte Famille. Son histoire a commencé en 1920 au château d'Adolfsburg à Oberhundem avec la fondation de la première école missionnaire. Celle-ci a été transférée plus tard à Altenhundem et a été abandonnée en 1962 dans le cadre d'un concept scolaire modifié.
