Johannes Lepsius était un humaniste, philosophe, historien et militant arménien des droits de l’homme. Lepsiushaus est la maison où il a vécu de 1908 à 1926.
Pendant la guerre froide, ce bâtiment en Allemagne de l’Est a été abandonné. En 1998, le ministère allemand de la Culture a commencé la rénovation du bâtiment avec l’aide de quelques dons privés. En mai 2011, le Lepsiushaus rénové a été ouvert au public en tant que « Centre de recherche pour les études sur le génocide ».
