Il a été construit dans le but de fournir de l'eau potable et est géré par la société de captage et de traitement de l'eau Nordeifel, une filiale à 50 % d'enwor-energie & wasser vor ort GmbH et une filiale à 50 % des services publics d'Aix-la-Chapelle.
