Le monument aux tisserands est, avec la Sparrenburg, l'un des principaux symboles de la ville de Bielefeld. Il se situe à l'est de l'église Nicolaï dans le parc de l'église historique. Il a été créé en 1909 par le sculpteur Hans Perathoner, qui dirigeait depuis 1907 la classe de sculpture à l'école d'artisanat et d'arts appliqués de Bielefeld. Il a été inauguré, tout comme le monument de la comté à Jöllenbeck, à l'occasion du 300ème anniversaire de la comté de Ravensberg, le 16 juillet 1909.
