Il monumento ai tessitori appartiene, insieme al castello di Sparrenburg, ai simboli più importanti della città di Bielefeld. Si trova a est della chiesa di San Nicola dell'antico centro nel parco della chiesa dell'antico centro. Fu creato nel 1909 dallo scultore Hans Perathoner, che dal 1907 dirigeva la classe di scultura alla scuola di artigianato e arti decorative di Bielefeld. Fu consacrato, così come il monumento della contea a Jöllenbeck, in occasione del 300° anniversario della contea di Ravensberg il 16 luglio 1909.
