La Haard est un paysage vallonné d'environ 55 km² et situé à une altitude de 156,9 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, dans le parc naturel de la Hohe Mark, au nord du district de Recklinghausen.
La Haard constitue une sous-unité de l'unité naturelle principale du Westmünsterland, qui fait partie du groupe d'unités principales de la baie de Westphalie. Avec les unités de Hohe Mark et Borkenberge, elle est également regroupée sous le nom de Monts Halterner.
