Le château de Laach est une villa majestueuse à Monheim am Rhein dans le district de Mettmann, et se trouve sur le site de la ferme de Laach, dont l'exploitation est attestée depuis le XIIIe siècle.
La ferme de Laach a été acquise en 1886 par le fils illégitime du roi belge Léopold I, Arthur von Eppinghoven, qui l'a revendue en 1909 au maire et pasteur de Dinslaken. De ce dernier, la ferme est passée en 1910 à Clemens August Engels, qui a fait construire le château de Laach en 1911. De 1932 à 1938, le château a été la propriété du vice-chancelier Franz von Papen.
