Schloss Laach is a stately villa in Monheim am Rhein in the district of Mettmann and stands on the grounds of the Laacher Hof, whose cultivation has been documented since the 13th century.
The Laacher Hof was acquired in 1886 by the illegitimate son of the Belgian King Leopold I, Arthur von Eppinghoven, who in turn sold it on to the mayor and pastor of Dinslaken in 1909. From him, the farm went in 1910 to Clemens August Engels, who had Laach Castle built in 1911. From 1932 to 1938, the castle was owned by the Vice-Chancellor Franz von Papen.
