Le village de près de 100 habitants est situé à l'est de l'île, à environ un kilomètre en ligne droite de la mer Baltique et à trois kilomètres du chef-lieu Burg sur Fehmarn. Sur la plage de Klausdorf, il y a un camping avec environ 450 emplacements.
L'approvisionnement local est assuré par un magasin à la ferme, qui est adossé à un café. Pour le transport public, il y a un bus municipal qui relie Klausdorf aux villages voisins. La route côtière de la mer Baltique longue de 1055 m traverse le village. L'épave du schooner et les zones de posidonies sont une zone de plongée populaire. La pêche en surf a lieu sur les falaises.
