Aschendorf est un lieu dans la commune allemande de Papenburg, dans l'état de Basse-Saxe, et compte, selon le site web de la commune, 8.444 habitants. Avant 1932, c'était la principale ville du district d'Aschendorf et entre 1932 et 1977, c'était la principale ville de l'ancien Landkreis Aschendorf-Hümmling.
Le lieu est situé près de l'Autoroute A31 Emden-Ruhrgebiet. La sortie 16, près de la frontière néerlandaise à Bellingwolde, mène à la route provinciale de la frontière néerlandaise via Rhede vers Aschendorf. De là, il reste encore 5 km en direction nord-est sur la B 70 pour atteindre Papenburg elle-même.
