Lekeitio, Lekitto en basque ou Lequeitio en espagnol est une commune de Biscaye dans la communauté autonome du Pays basque en Espagne.Son nom paraît être une déformation de legoitio signifiant « Endroit sur le Lea », se référant à la rivière. On dit que c'est la façon la plus ancienne de dire sable, Legar preuve de nom ; goiti signifie lieu important de goi et ti et o paraît se référer a endroit ou emplacement, et non à la ville. Celui-ci viendra plus tard, devenant le nom de l'endroit, c'est-à-dire Lekeitio serait lieu sur le Lea ou lieu sur le sable.
