Le Musée Archéologique Provincial de Séville a été formé à la suite du décret 1867 sur le Musée Archéologique, qui s'appelait alors le Musée des Antiquités. En créant le musée ont été les interventions décisives de Séville Conseil des musées, créée en 1835 pour prendre en charge les objets d'art provenant des couvents supprimés, et la Commission provinciale des Monuments, mis en place en 1844. La collection fondateur était composé des résultats des fouilles de Italica, recueilli vers 1780 par D. Francisco de Bruna dans la galerie d'accès à l'Alcazar.
