Le pont romain de Mérida est considéré comme le plus long de l'Antiquité. Sous l'Empire romain il traversait le fleuve Guadiana en deux tronçons séparés par un terre-plein. Aujourd'hui, le pont a une longueur de 790 m et repose sur soixante arcs, desquels trois sont restés cachés jusqu'à la fin des années 1990, lorsque les travaux de restauration des berges du fleuve les ont découverts.
