Au XVIIe siècle, Charleville est devenu le nouveau centre économique des Ardennes. Aujourd'hui, Charleville est également une importante attraction touristique, non seulement en raison de son aménagement particulier et de ses nombreux beaux bâtiments, mais aussi les lieux évoquant Arthur Rimbaud attirent de nombreux 'Rimbaldiens' ou fans de Rimbaud vers cette ville que ce poète détestait tant.
