Nel XVII secolo, Charleville divenne il nuovo centro economico delle Ardenne. Oggi Charleville è anche una importante meta turistica, non solo per la sua particolare disposizione e i suoi numerosi splendidi edifici, ma anche per i luoghi che ricordano Arthur Rimbaud, che attraggono molti 'Rimbaldiens', ovvero fan di Rimbaud, nella città tanto odiata da questo poeta.
