Amboise est une commune française située dans le département d'Indre-et-Loire dans l'arrondissement de Loches en région Centre-Val de Loire.Située sur les bords de la Loire, la cité doit sa renommée au château d'Amboise qui la domine, à la tour de l'Horloge, à l' église Saint-Denis, au château du Clos Lucé où s'éteignit Léonard de Vinci, au domaine-royal de Château-Gaillard construit par Charles VIII en 1496 et à la pagode de Chanteloup. Son nom est aussi attaché à la sanglante « conjuration d'Amboise » de mars 1560.
