Durant la grande guerre, on enterra les soldats dans les moindres recoins près des zones de combats. Un premier cimetière avait été installé au bout de la route de Fontenoy au débouché du boyau de Chapeaumont. Puis en novembre 1921, sur proposition de l'autorité militaire, on transféra les corps dans le cimetière de Vic sur Aisne. Situé à la sortie du bourg, cette nécropole, de 9.385 m², contient 3.046 corps, dont 932 en ossuaires, ainsi que quatre tombes de la seconde guerre mondiale. Vous pourrez également vous recueillir devant une tombe musulmane, ou a été enterré, Ma Yi Pao, engagé dans la légion étrangère et le seul Chinois mort pour la France.
