« Mitenwilre " ou " Middle Farm " est cité sous ce nom à partir de 974.
Depuis, la culture de la vigne a toujours été l’activité principale du village.
Murbach et d’autres abbayes y possédaient des vignes.
Les comtes de " Wurtemberg - Montbéliard " en furent les propriétaires du XIVe siècle jusqu’au XVIIIe siècle.
Révolution.
Cependant le village dépendait de la seigneurie de Riquewihr.
Elle connut des moments sombres lors des violents combats de la Poche de Colmar et fut presque entièrement détruite en 1945. Il a été reconstruit depuis.
