La stèle de Noirgueux commémore le franchissement de la Moselle par les soldats de la 36ème Division d'Infanterie Américaine le 21 septembre 1944, lors de leur mission pour libérer la ville de Remiremont. Ces soldats ont risqué leur vie dans cette opération historique. Chaque année, une cérémonie commémorative avec des reconstitutions réalistes a lieu à la même date. La commune de Saint-Nabord a également créé un sentier pédagogique dédié à la moraine de Noirgueux pour mieux comprendre cet événement.
