The stele at Noirgueux commemorates the crossing of the Moselle by soldiers of the 36th American Infantry Division on September 21, 1944, during their mission to liberate the town of Remiremont. These soldiers risked their lives in this historic operation. Every year, a commemorative ceremony with realistic re-enactments takes place on the same date. The commune of Saint-Nabord has also created an educational trail dedicated to the Noirgueux moraine, to provide a better understanding of this event.
