Le Second Empire est le système constitutionnel et politique instauré en France le 2 décembre 1852 lorsque Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, premier président de la République française, devient le souverain Napoléon III, empereur des Français, un an jour pour jour après son coup d'État du 2 décembre 1851. Ce régime politique succède à la Deuxième République.
