Membre de l'Ecole de Nancy, l'architecte Lucien Weissenburger a bâti cet immeuble en 1903-1904, dont il a lui-même occupé le rez-de-chaussée, pour son habitat personnel et pour son atelier. Il s'est entouré du talent de Jacques Gruber pour les vitraux et de Louis Majorelle pour les ferronneries. Le bâtiment s'articule autour du vestibule, surmonté d'une terrasse.
