Phalsbourg, ville natale d'Emile Erckmann. Cité de grès rose fortifiée, Phalsbourg abrite encore de précieux témoignages de son fier passé militaire : casernes, poudrières, la Porte de France à l'ouest et la porte d'Allemagne à l'est qui marquent les limites de la ville dans une magnifique architecture de Vauban. La ville de garnison fut fortifiée par Vauban en 1680.
