L'ancien tunnel ferroviaire du Dattier fait partie de l' ancien « Train des Pignes » (Saint-Raphaël – Toulon) longeant la corniche des Maures.
Le tunnel mesure environ 285 mètres de long et a été creusé à la main à la fin du XIXe siècle dans du micaschiste , une roche cassante sur laquelle les explosifs ne pouvaient pas être utilisés.
Il sert désormais de piste cyclable et piétonne (faisant partie de la route européenne V65 ), connue sous le nom de Chemin Pierre Foncin. Le tunnel est rectiligne et éclairé , avec des voies piétonnes et cyclables ; la circulation automobile y est interdite, seuls les habitants du Dattier y étant autorisés.
