Rochdale était une paroisse ecclésiastique d'origine early-médiévale dans le nord de l'Angleterre, administrée depuis l'Église de Saint Chad, Rochdale. À son zénith, elle occupait 58 620 acres de terre parmi les South Pennines et chevauchait la frontière historique du comté entre le Lancashire et le West Riding de Yorkshire. Au nord et au nord-ouest se trouvait la paroisse de Whalley ; au sud-ouest se trouvait la paroisse de Bury ; au sud se trouvaient Middleton et Prestwich-cum-Oldham.
