Llanafan Fawr est un village, une communauté et une paroisse ecclésiastique dans l'ancien cantref de Buellt et le comté historique de Brecknockshire au Pays de Galles. Il fait maintenant partie du Powys. La communauté comprend l'ancienne paroisse de Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan.
La paroisse a une superficie légèrement supérieure à 5 000 hectares et une population rurale dispersée de plus d'un millier d'habitants. Elle est nommée d'après Saint Afan et était le centre du Cantref Buallt dans l'Antiquité, avant la construction de Builth Wells située à environ 9 miles. L'ancienne ville thermale de Llandrindod Wells est également située à proximité.
