La vallée a été sculptée par la rivière Trevillet à Trethevy, à environ un mile à l'est de Tintagel. À leur point le plus haut, les parois du canyon en ardoise s'élèvent à plus de soixante-dix pieds au-dessus de la rivière en contrebas. Rocky Valley a été mentionnée dans des livres de voyage comme un endroit d'une beauté exceptionnelle dès 1897. La vallée appartient au National Trust et abrite 161 espèces différentes de mousse. Le vallon de Saint Nectan est une zone boisée s'étendant sur environ un mile le long des deux rives de la rivière Trevillet; sa caractéristique la plus notable est le Kieve de Saint Nectan.
