Porta Fiorentina a été ainsi nommée parce qu'elle s'ouvrait sur la route de Florence. Bien que d'origine médiévale, il présente d'importants remaniements effectués au XVIe siècle pour réparer les dégâts subis lors d'un siège de la ville en 1530.
Le parking Porta Fiorentina de la Piazza Caduti nei Lager Nazisti se trouve juste en face de la Porta Fiorentina : il est payant et réservé aux voitures. Le parking, au nombre de places très limité, est très facilement accessible et se situe à 10 mètres de la Porta Fiorentina : l'entrée du centre historique.
