Le canal Meuse-Moselle est un canal jamais entièrement achevé qui devait relier la Meuse et la Moselle. Pour réaliser la jonction, un tunnel-canal de 2,5 kilomètres devait être creusé dans une colline de granit et de schiste marquant la frontière belgo-luxembourgeoise. Ce tunnel devait déboucher à Hoffelt. En raison des coûts gigantesques et de l’instabilité politique qui suivit la Révolution belge, les travaux furent arrêtés au bout de 1130 mètres.
