À Lochem, vous découvrirez un environnement avec des forêts, des collines, des châteaux et des maisons de campagne. L'une de ces maisons de campagne est "Het Huis Ampsen". Des documents de 1103 font déjà mention de ce château, qui est parti en flammes au 16ème siècle. Peu après, en 1543, il fut reconstruit, avec des agrandissements et des adaptations au style de l'époque. Lochem a acquis ses droits de ville en 1233 et fut entourée de murs en 1340. Remarquable est la St. Gudula de 1478, qui se trouve sur la place, c'est une église hall gothique tardive avec un clocher intégré et recouverte de tuf en bas. Les clairons y sont encore actifs.
