Cette zone est également appelée 'Main Bleue'. Auparavant, il y avait un barrage dans le canal Beuker/Steenwijk, où les navires devaient être chargés de tourbe. La tourbe était déchargée, puis chargée dans l'autre navire de l'autre côté du barrage. Comme la tourbe contenait beaucoup de cuivre, les ouvriers avaient les mains bleues. D'où le nom de Main Bleue. Vous pouvez trouver une image d'une 'main bleue' sur le plateau de carreaux près de la maison du garde-barrière, sur le pont près de la Main Bleue.
