Aarlanderveen est mentionné pour la première fois comme seigneurie dans le contrat de mariage de Floris IV de Hollande et Machteld de Brabant. Au fil des siècles, le village passe entre les mains de différentes familles nobles, dont Van Oudshoorn et Van IJsselstein. Au début de la Renaissance, en 1584 ou 1593, Aarlanderveen est acquis par le maréchal Ernst van Mansveld ou Von Mandelsloh.
