Le Walemberg est nommé d'après le hameau de Walem qui se trouve au sommet de cette montée dans la commune de Valkenburg. La pente mesure plus de deux kilomètres de long et commence à Schin op Geul. À mi-chemin, il y a une section raide de plus de 10 %.
