La station Groningen Noord ou le Noorderstation, comme l'appellent les Stadjers, est une gare située au nord de la ville de Groningen, près des quartiers de Selwerd et de la Tuinwijk. En 1884, la ligne de train Groningen - Delfzijl a été inaugurée. Le long de la partie de ce trajet qui traverse la ville de Groningen, un arrêt a été aménagé, la halte Kostverloren, et plus loin Groningen Halte SS, qui a été appelée simplement Groningen Halte à partir de 1917 et Groningen Noord depuis 1955. En 1893, la ligne Sauwerd - Roodeschool a également été achevée. À partir de ce moment, la gare a été desservie par le train Groningen – Roodeschool. De 1922 à 1938, un nombre limité de trains Groningen - Zoutkamp s'est également arrêté ici chaque jour. Aujourd'hui, les lignes sont exploitées par Arriva.
