L'église réformée se trouve dans la commune de Scherpenzeel dans la province de Gelderland. Dans le village, juste au sud de l'église, se tenait un grand château du quatorzième siècle qui était la demeure de la famille noble Scherpenzeel. Ce château a été rénové à plusieurs reprises et existe toujours en tant que « Maison Scherpenzeel ». La famille Scherpenzeel a joué un rôle important à la cour des ducs de Gelre. Il y a eu un lien très fort pendant longtemps entre les seigneurs de Scherpenzeel et la communauté réformée.
