L'ancienne école de sage-femme a été marquée comme monument en 1999. Son architecte était Jan Stuyt (1868-1934), qui a conçu plusieurs bâtiments situés au sommet d'une colline avec la forêt d'Imstenrade en arrière-plan. Cet emplacement répondait à l'exigence médicale d'air frais. La première pierre a été posée par la reine Wilhelmina le 25 septembre 1920. Les travaux ont été achevés en 1922. Environ dix ans plus tard, la chapelle à côté de l'école a été construite. Le design de la chapelle a été réalisé par Jan Stuyt et son fils Giacomo en 1934.
