Entre le vieux noyau du village de Stein et le canal Julian se cache une partie authentique de la vallée de la Meuse, les prairies de Stein. La partie nord est formée par la zone verte historique 't Brook / Ziepe. La région appartient à l'Urdal et est traditionnellement une zone riche en eau avec une végétation dense. La région est reliée aux chemins de halage le long du canal Julian et à la zone de promenade sud à travers les prairies, "de Meulewiert" vers le château de Stein.
