L'église actuelle de St. Gummarus, construite en 1902, remplace une église du début du dix-neuvième siècle qui était devenue trop petite. L'église fait partie des œuvres tardives les plus importantes de l'œuvre du Dr P.J.H. Cuypers, bien que le design ait été modifié et exécuté par son fils Jos et Jan Stuyt. L'église a été gravement endommagée par des actions de guerre en 1944, avec une restauration en 1949 et un reconstruction du clocher en 1960. Une grande restauration a eu lieu avec une subvention dite "kanjersubsidie" dans les années 2000.
