L'église est dédiée à Saint-Pierre aux Liens.
Vers 1500, une église à nef unique en croix fut construite à l'emplacement de l'église actuelle.
De 1880 à 1882, l'église fut agrandie selon les plans de l'architecte Jan Jurien van Langelaar.
En 1931-1932, l'église reçut à l'est de l'ancien transept une nef supplémentaire et elle obtint des collatéraux.
En 1944, pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, on fit sauter le clocher, détruisant ainsi une partie de la nef.
De 1950 à 1952, l'église fut reconstruite selon les plans de l'architecte W. Bunnik. L'église fut alors prolongée du côté ouest, contre laquelle un nouveau clocher fut construit.
