La iglesia está dedicada a San Pedro en Cadenas.
Alrededor de 1500 se construyó en el lugar de la actual iglesia una iglesia de cruz de una nave.
Entre 1880 y 1882, la iglesia fue ampliada según el diseño del arquitecto Jan Jurien van Langelaar.
En 1931-1932, la iglesia recibió al este del transepto existente una nave adicional y la iglesia obtuvo capillas laterales.
En 1944, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se voló la torre y se destruyó parte del cuerpo de la iglesia.
Entre 1950 y 1952, la iglesia fue reconstruida según el diseño del arquitecto W. Bunnik. Se amplió la iglesia por el lado oeste, donde se construyó una nueva torre.
