Cette rivière commence comme un ruisseau dans les environs de Brecht et Wuustwezel, en Belgique. Après 36 km, l'eau atteint Breda (le nom viendrait de Brede-Aa) et arrive finalement aux douves de la ville avant de se jeter dans la rivière De Mark. Le nom Weerijs est d'origine française : 'Wegreyse'. Les rives de ce ruisseau seront rendues plus attrayantes pour les cyclistes et les randonneurs dans les années à venir. L'eau est également très prisée des kayakistes.
