Les catholiques à Hedel disposaient initialement d'une église Saint-Willibrord qui, en 1571, passa à la religion réformée, et en 1640 une nouvelle église fut construite à cet endroit.
Les catholiques purent à partir de 1680 utiliser une église-grange située sur la Molendijk. Lorsque les religions furent égalisées sous la Révolution française, une nouvelle église put être construite. Celle-ci fut érigée à l'emplacement de la cour de l'hôpital du Château de Hedel. En 1802, cette église, avec sa maison de vicaire, fut mise en service. Ce bâtiment fut détruit en 1944.
