Au sommet de la Heunsberg à Valkenburg se trouve les Wilhelminatoren, une tour d'observation construite en 1906. Ce monument national de trente mètres de haut est en pierre de craie et construit dans un style néogothique avec des fenêtres en arc brisé et des gargouilles.
La construction de cette tour était une réponse à une tour d'observation en bois sur la Cauberg (qui n'existe plus). À l'époque, il y avait à Valkenburg deux associations rivales pour promouvoir le tourisme.
Cette tour s'inscrit parfaitement dans l'image de Valkenburg en tant que destination touristique émergente.
