Les Jardins de Ton ter Linden font référence au jardin original à Ruinen du peintre Ton ter Linden. Dans ce jardin, Ter Linden a réalisé, de 1971 à 2000, ses idées sur le jardinage et la gestion des plantes qui ont fait de lui l'un des quatre principaux acteurs de la Dutch Wave. À partir d'environ 1976 jusqu'à la fin, le jardin était ouvert au public, à son apogée, le jardin attirait environ 19 000 visiteurs par an. En 2000, Ter Linden a arrêté son jardin à Ruinen et a déménagé en Limburg.
