Le Golden Gate est un détroit situé aux États-Unis, à l'Ouest de la Californie et relie la baie de San Francisco à l'océan Pacifique. Le pont du Golden Gate enjambe l'embouchure de la baie et fait le lien entre la partie nord et sud de celle-ci depuis la fin des années 1930.
Le détroit a été creusé par la combinaison de la force des flots de l'océan avec ceux des rivières Sacramento et San Joaquin .
