Bangor est une ville du nord-est des États-Unis, dans l'État du Maine. Sa population était de 33 039 habitants lors du recensement de 2010. C'est le siège du comté de Penobscot et le centre commercial principal de l'est, du centre et du nord du Maine ainsi que la troisième ville de l’État. 6 % de la population parle le français à la maison.
Son nom lui a été donné en 1791, lors de son intégration au Massachusetts par le pasteur Seth Noble. Celui-ci partit pour Boston avec une demande d'incorporation au nom de Sunbury, qu'il remplaça par Bangor. Nom donné d'après un cantique irlandais dont la musique fut composée par William Tans’ur qui portait le titre de Bangor en référence à l'Antiphonaire de l'abbaye irlandaise de Bangor. .
