La ex-Lakenhalle è un gioiello dell'architettura medievale fiamminga che è stato costruito nel grazioso contesto della Grand Place. Soprattutto durante i mesi estivi, quando l'Ufficio Comunale è decorato con le undici bandiere araldiche e adornato con colorati mazzi di fiori, offre una vista splendida.
Il Belfort, che nel 1999 è stato protetto dall'UNESCO come Patrimonio dell'Umanità, ospita dal XVI secolo un carillon. Questo carillon, recentemente restaurato, conta 49 campane con un peso totale di 6.800 kg. Così Dendermonde possiede un cosiddetto carillon completo secondo lo standard di Malines.
Nell'Ufficio Comunale i visitatori possono scoprire l'elegante interni e i numerosi dipinti della 'scuola di pittura di Dendermonde'. Possiamo conoscere il lavoro di pittori, scultori e ceramisti contemporanei nel Centro Amministrativo e nel centro culturale Belgica.
