La signoria di Sint-Pauwels faceva parte dei beni diretti dei conti delle Fiandre.
Dal 1551 al 1594 Sint-Pauwels aveva un proprio collegio. Poi fu unito a Kemzeke e Stekene fino all'inizio del XVII secolo. Successivamente rimase unito a Kemzeke fino alla fine del XVIII secolo. Da citare è la chiesa di San Paolo con il coro e la torre del 1494. Due altari laterali del XVII secolo, una comunione e un rivestimento sono in stile Luigi XIV. La chiesa possiede un calvario dipinto di L. De Heere.
